  1. Step 0: Research the conference and what they want from your proposal. We’re all different and I know that we (UX Australia) ask for a quite different approach than other conferences. For us, proposals are different to the talk description that goes on the website as a teaser for attendees. If you sent us the proposal in the article, we’d either ask you for more, or may just say no (especially with 100+ proposals for 24 slots). Not because it’s not a good talk, but it isn’t what we’d want in a proposal.

  3. Great article, Russ! I especially appreciate how you showed your proposal taking shape through different editing stages. Consider doing a follow up article on how to structure your presentation, and then another one - on how to deliver. I feel like one never stops learning when it comes to those things.

    That’s a good article, when it comes to create a proposal it’s always difficult because each conference will be different but identify a strong pattern will be helpul anyways. I’ll try to follow your guidelines in our project.
