Feb. 8: More Wintry Mess For Midwest Thursday's Weather in the West: That mass of cold, arctic air out of Canada - will make its way over the Northern Rockies this morning - and into the eastern counties of Washington State.
Feb. 7: Winter Storm Warnings For West/Midwest Today's Weather in the West: It's been a chilly morning across much of the West - as the Jet Stream has dipped southward into Southern California - allowing for the arrival of colder air across much of the region.
Feb. 8: West Rain & Upper Midwest Snow Thursday's Weather in the West: A Pacific Storm will advance eastward and reach the Northwest coast by early this morning - and that will produce rain showers from Southwestern Canada to Southern Oregon - with snow in the higher elevations of 2,500 feet and above.
Feb. 7: Little Help For Aussie Wild Fires Australia: With wild fires still spreading across portions of extreme Southwest Australia - namely around Perth - the current weather pattern could be in a factor in making the efforts to put them out - even worse.

This Day in Weather History: 1861. Being New York On February 7th, 1861 - things were bad enough in Yankee New York. Nobody knew for sure that by April 12th the Confederates would fire on Fort Sumter and plunge the nation into the deadliest war in its history... but everybody knew it was coming... It was like waiting for hell to arrive on an unscheduled train.
